Jurlique| My Skin Care Journey

My Skin care journey is a long one, in my early teens I suffered from bad breakouts on my forehead only, mainly because I had a front fringe. After growing out my fringe and a lot of tea tree oil and time this area recovered with no scars and a very rare breakout from then on. Throughout high school i had the occasional break out on my chin and nose but never had severe breakouts or 'acne'. Once I began my corse at Elly Lukas Beauty Therapy College we were forced to have a facial weekly, now I know to a lot of people that sounds great, but trust me IT IS NOT, its probably the worse thing you can do for you skin as far as over stimulation goes. You are only mean to have a facial every 3-4 weeks depending on your specific concerns. As well as it been to much for my skin, the chopping and changing of skin care products did me no favours, at uni we would use Sothys one week and then Payot the next. Changing your skincare routine too often is not ideal for many skins and can cause a lot of confusion in the skin, which may lead to intense sensitivity and breakouts.

Due to the over stimulation of my skin it began to break out on my cheeks, which had never happened in my life. Never had I had issues with my cheeks, they were always lovely.. I tried so many different products but just could not shake it, as well as deep and painful breakouts the redness was very unbearable too, which then lead to red scarring. After 6 months of basic facials WEEKLY my skin was damaged, for the next 6 months my skin was allowed a break as we didn't have a facial component of the corse in that time, but at the beginning of this year for the final 6 months we are required to complete the subject of advanced facials, using electrodes, high frequency and direct+ indirect currents on our skin. Over summer my skin was also back to normal you could say but as the first few weeks of facials again began to kick in my skin was back to what it was at the start of last year. Deep breakouts, scarring and severe redness.. at this point I was completely over it so i visited the doctor and they gave me a prescription acne cream which make my skin SUPER sensitive. A lot of girls I know have been on roacatine but that was not an option for me as A) my skin wasn't 'that' bad and B) the side effects of that medication is not worth it in my opinion. After a day of facials a few months ago, my skin was burning red and I was just about crying from the pain, that was it.. enough was enough. There was only so long my skin could cope with this treatment. As I started working at Jurlique as a counter manager I have really embraced their skin care products and the organic and natural nature of them, I was finding they were really helping my skin, but the facials were undoing the progress my skin was making. After a meeting with the school I was FINALLY allowed to not get them done anymore, and all I can say is thank god for that.. literally!

For the past roughly two months of no facials and using all my Jurlique and two other products religiously (without chopping and changing my routine) my skin has improved so much I can't even explain it!
My cheeks are beginning to clear up, one side is completely cleared up including the scars which have disappeared. My skins hydration levels have increased as well as the dehydration lines decreasing.

In the morning after waking up and washing my face with warm water and my Rose Moisture Plus Moisturising Cleanser, I pat dry my skin and lightly mist my skin with the Rosewater Balancing Mist which will help the products I will place over this absorb to the full potential. I then massage my Herbal Recovery Advanced Serum into my skin, combining it with my Amboni organics 'Hydra-boost' argan+ rose hip face oil and a dot of Raccine eye cream I am set to have breakfast (letting these products absorb in), then returning to place my makeup on for the day!

Through the day our skin is surrounded by pollution in the air and harsh air conditioning which is extremely bad and causes the skin to become dehydrated. I ensure I drink enough water (roughly 3 bottles of my 1.25L Super Pump water bottle) and I religiously mist my face with the Rosewater Balancing Mist (as mentioned before), this will keep my skin hydrated and fresh-looking in appearance.

Once I get home, whether it be from work or uni I take my make up off! I first use two damp cotton pads with Jurlique replenishing cleansing lotion on them to gently remove my eye & lip makeup. It is important to remove your eye make up separately to your normal cleanse and avoid a scrubbing action as this can harm your eyes and also may cause the lashes to fall out which you DON'T want!
I then enter into my double cleanse routine, first dampening my face with warm water (not hot and not cold) and place a 5 cent coin size of Jurlique Rose Moisture Plus Moisturising Cleanser onto my hands, I then gently massage the product around my face and neck to remove all makeup and dirt that is on my skin. After the first cleanse I then go in with my Clarisonic Mia 2 (only 2-3 times weekly as it can be slightly harsh if used everyday) with the same cleanser on it and some warm water, carrying out the full clarisonic timing I move the machine around my face to remove make up and dirt which was not removed with the initial cleanse. The clarisonics are amazing as they remove 7x more product from the skin than a normal cleanse does, they are a little on the pricey side but are totally worth it in my opinion!
After completing my double cleanse I pat dry my face (its important not to scrub it with a dry towel/face washer as this may irritate the freshly cleansed skin), I then mist my face again with (you guessed it!) the Rosewater balancing mist again, then massaging Herbal Recovery Advanced Serum into my skin, combining it again with my Amboni organics 'Hydra-boost' argan+ rose hip face oil. If I have any pending breakouts or current breakouts I will gently dab some pure tea tree oil onto them as this is anti-bacterial and also antiseptic.
I may then use my Lush 'The Kiss' lip scrub (only a few times a week when I feel they need some TLC) and then place my Jurlique Love balm on them to moisturise my lips!

Haven't heard of it? Heres a bit of background intro about this luxé brand,
Created by Tuuli Patchell who is infact a makeup artist from the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria! After working in the industry for many many years (including Mecca Mexima) and maintaining a large client base, Tuuli created her own makeup brand… So here we are!
Firstly can we talk about the packaging- I mean look at it! So luxe and gorgeous. As you will know I'm a sucker for pretty things and this packaging ticks all the boxes for me!
The products are all made in the USA, are NOT tested on animals and include the finest quality ingredients.
On the website you are able to book masterclasses with Tuuli if you are based in Victoria (Australia), where you can learn numerous skills and tricks of the trade- and the price is redeemable on product!

So what did I receive?!

1. Foundation- Demi Matte Foundation
Shade- Light for people with cool/pink undertones.
-Sidenote: on the website all the foundations have what shade suits what undertones which is super helpful
The foundation boasts a Sheer application for a medium-full coverage look which is easily build-able.. It contains skin boosting antioxidants as well as SPF20 and is hypoallergenic.
On application it is very velvety and applies smoothly and evenly!
It is a long lasting foundation which helps reduce shine, while containing natural, light-diffusing pigments that diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
This product retails for $45 AUD

Creme Lips Lipstick in 'Berry'
This lipstick is SUPER pigmented and feels so lovely on the lips- not at all drying. They say they won't feather or fade, whilst lips will appear fuller with a semi matte finish. This lipstick like the foundation contains antioxidants to soften and PROTECT the lips!
These retail for $32 AUD

 Brow Gel Fix
A clear brow gel to keep those naughty brow hairs in place throughout the day and into the night! Really love this and is exactly what I needed to finish of the brows daily after filling them in.
Retailing for $22 AUD

I will start off with what I first thought when I opened the sealed luxe packaging, OMG- the smell is overwhelmingly gorgeous! The only way i can describe it to you is like a sweet vanilla + caramel sent all over your body…. How could you not want to smell like this!

After exfoliating my body in the shower I jumped out and applied this 'Skin Superfood' all over me (making sure you are dry!)
It is so super soft, comes out a caramel colour and is super creamy and moisturising. It Nourishes your skin with an instant superfood boost!
On the package it says 'Use it any time you want to feel sexy' and if smelling like a caramel vanilla candle isn't sexy I don't know what is!

On their website it states "With just a hint of tint, it will visibly define muscles, contour your body and balance skin tone. It will extend the life of your spray tan - perfect to use when things start getting a little patchy. The superfood ingredients will reignite your glow, while hydrating and nourishing your skin. And with each GAZE BODY boost your skin will look and feel fitter, firmer, sexier."

In the Gaze Body moisturiser it contains almond oil, argan oil, avocado, bearberry extract, brown sugar, coffee, shea butter, licorice root, cacao and vitamin B- No wonder it smells and feels so amazing on my skin! Retailing for $27 AUD this product is 100% becoming a regular application after showering for me.

I tend to neglect using products on my body but this is too good not to use seriously guys,
My skin feels SO SO soft and when run out of my 2 sachets I will defiantly be purchasing more!

During the Chemist Warehouse 50% off Maybelline sale I picked up a few essentials, but these three products I'm going to talk to you about today are by far my favourite!

I hadn't heard much about these Lip pencils, only a few photos here and there on Instagram but after swatching them in store I was sold.. and at $4.79 each I couldn't say no.
There are 10 shades in the Colour Drama Velvet Lip Pencil line but I chose only 3.
My picks were 'In With Coral', 'Fab Orange' and 'Fuchsia Desire' and am blown away with the quality of this product!

They are super creamy and pigmented, and the colour range to choose from is so vibrant as well as some neutral tones in the mix.
The matte, velvet finish is not drying and doesn't look as if it is drying either (some lip products that are matte tend to be drying which is very noticeable), this is because of the nourishing oils which are included in the formula!
For the small price of around $9 these are extremely affordable and great colour pay off, Avaliable at Chemist Warehouse, Priceline and other pharmacies. I would highly recommend these for ladies who does want to pay such a high price for the Nars Lip Pencil which is extremely comparable to the Maybelline pencils!

Let me know if you can recommend any other lip pencils from other companies!

My favorites for April is skincare, nails and makeup combined, it includes a few old loves and a few new✨

To start I'll dive into my makeup faves:
SKINDINAVIA.. The Finishing Spray & The Primer Spray, if you don't own a setting spray it's a must for long lasting makeup. I've noticed such a difference in the wear of my makeup throughout the day. Now primer sprays are something new which I've seen popping up here and there recently and I'm quite enjoying this one, it's such a quick fix for the skin- applying it in a X and T motion of 2-3 times you're primed and ready to go.

TOO FACED.. What can I say about this product that hasn't already been said? Too faced is one of my favorite brands for make up its packaging and product pay off as well as the pricing being so affordable. My favorite colors from the palette are creme brûlée and marzipan!

MAYBELLINE.. The Color drama velvet lip pencils I picked up during the chemist warehouse 50% off sale in three shades and I have worn one each day to uni since, they came down to $4.79 and are super comparable to the NARS lip pencils!

ESSENCE... Twist eyeliner was a heaven sent when doing my sister eyeliner for her formal this month, super easy to apply and very affordable. I would highly recommend this liner for those on the search for an affordable good one!
XXXL nude lipgloss I've also been loving over a nude lipstick just to add some shine, it's not sticky and quite long wearing.

THE BALM.. Cindy Lou manizer illuminizer, I found this works better as a blush & highlight in one as it had a pink/ rose gold tone to it.

CHANEL.. Soeil bronzer base which is meant to be used as a base under your foundation to add some color, I've been loving as a contour for under my cheek bones..

JURLIQUE.. (Surprise surprise) I've been religiously using this two times a day. It's the herbal recovery advanced serum an it's made my skin so much softer as well as improving my skin tone!

ESSIE.. I picked up this nail polish from Essie as I thought it would be such a great color for winter!

What are your favorites from April?
